Wanna One Member Profiles: Maknae Line

(Last Updated November 2018)

JIHOON
WOOJIN
JINYOUNG
DAEHWI
GUANLIN

NOTE: To my knowledge, Wanna One has never officially announced their exact roles and positions within the team.  Therefore, what I’ve written here is mostly educated guesses on my part after watching them on Produce 101 and analyzing their performances.

JIHOON (지훈)

Real Name: Park Jihoon (박지훈)
Birthday: May 29, 1999
Zodiac Sign: Gemini (Western), Rabbit (Eastern)
From: Seoul, South Korea (Born in Masan, South Gyeongsang)
Agency: Maroo Entertainment
Position(s): Lead dancer, lead rapper, vocalist, visual line

Produce 101 Initial Ranking (Episode 1): #1
Produce 101 Final Ranking (Episode 11): #2
Notable Produce 101 Performances: Boy in Luv (Team 1), Get Ugly, Oh Little Girl, Hands on Me

Claim to Fame on the Show: Becoming insanely popular for his looks.  He went viral after fans noticed his wink on the M! Countdown performance of “Pick Me,” and managed to hold the top spot in the rankings for five weeks.  He never dropped below #3.  He also became known for his cute catchphrase “save me in your heart.”

Other Activities Outside of Wanna One:

Pre-debut: Was a child actor and appeared in many musicals and television shows.  It was revealed on Produce 101 that he appeared on a variety show with Big Bang.

Jihoon is one of the few members who hasn’t done any solo activities while he’s been part of Wanna One.

WOOJIN (우진)

Real Name: Park Woojin (박우진)
Birthday: November 2, 1999
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio (Western), Rabbit (Eastern)
From: Busan, South Korea
Agency: Brand New Music Entertainment
Position(s): Main dancer, main rapper

Produce 101 Initial Ranking (Episode 1): #72
Produce 101 Final Ranking (Episode 11): #6
Notable Produce 101 Performances: 10 out of 10 (Team 2), Get Ugly, Never, Hands on Me

Claim to Fame on the Show: His dancing skills and talent for choreography making. Although he was initially in the lower rankings, he received the most votes on his dance team during the position evaluation.  This was particularly impressive because all of the others were in the Top 10 and he was ranked at #32 at the time (he beat out Jihoon, Samuel, Seongwu, and Daniel).  After that, his charismatic presence onstage but cute demeanor offstage made him rise through the ranks.

JINYOUNG (진영)

Real Name: Bae Jinyoung (배진영)
Birthday: May 10, 2000
Zodiac Sign: Taurus (Western), Dragon (Eastern)
From: Seoul, South Korea
Agency: C9 Entertainment
Position(s): Vocalist, visual line

Produce 101 Initial Ranking (Episode 1): #5
Produce 101 Final Ranking (Episode 11): #10
Notable Produce 101 Performances: Boy in Luv (Team 1), Spring Day, Oh Little Girl, Hands on Me

Claim to Fame on the Show: Though always popular and noticed for his looks, Jinyoung was known for being very shy and lacking in stage presence.  In his audition, he could barely look up from the floor.  But he improved significantly during the second half of the show, ending in him winning the center position during the final performance (which probably secured his spot in Wanna One).

GUANLIN (관린)

Real Name: Lai Guanlin (Chinese – 賴冠霖, Korean – 라이관린)
Birthday: September 23, 2001
Zodiac Sign: Libra (Western), Snake (Eastern)
Agency: Cube Entertainment

Produce 101 Initial Ranking (Episode 1): #10
Produce 101 Final Ranking (Episode 11): #7
Notable Produce 101 Performances: Boy in Luv (Team 2), Fear, Never, Super Hot

Claim to Fame on the Show: He and fellow Cube trainee Yoo Seonho were initially labeled the “baby chicks” due to their cuteness and their lack of experience (they had only been training for six months). However, they both showed a determination to improve and get better.  Guanlin’s self-written rap for the position evaluations touched a lot of fans, especially because he worked hard on his Korean.  His efforts shot him to 2nd place after the challenge.
